Launching a fully automated Insurance Carrier
Served as CTO for the launch of a next-generation insurance carrier, architecting and delivering an end-to-end annuities platform entirely in the cloud. From day one, we provided not only the core infrastructure but also the personnel, technical leadership, and long-term product vision required to bring the company to life.
The system is built on cloud-native architecture with a heavy emphasis on automation, containerization, and infrastructure-as-code — enabling rapid deployment, scalability, and resilience. We developed a fully integrated platform covering every phase of the business, from application and policy issuance to payments and back-office processing.
Policy issuance times were reduced from a traditional 4–7 business days to under 5 minutes, powered by a 100% automated engine. We oversaw integration with more than 15 external systems, including identity verification, financial background checks, KYC, and document services.
Our role encompassed complete ownership of IT functions: managing vendors, supporting production operations, providing enterprise architecture, and delivering both frontend and backend systems—including ERP, TMS, hedging, position management, and tax reconciliation. AI was woven into the platform to enhance decision-making, automate tasks, and power adaptive experiences across the stack.
